Political Communication and PhD Life with Xudong Yu

Guest: Xudong Yu

Welcome to the very first episode of The Indirect Path (formerly Catching Up with CJ)! Our first guest is Xudong Yu, a PhD Candidate in Political Communication. We discuss his journey into how he got into studying the field starting from his experience as a journalist. We also reflect on the realities of graduate school. While we’ve had incredibly positive experiences overall, there are times that generally can be difficult, especially as an international student. Lastly, we discuss Xudong’s own research and studies that focus on polarization and selective exposure.

At the time of the podcast recording and publishing, Dr. Yu was a PhD candidate; however, he is now an assistant professor at the University of North Dakota. Congratulations to Dr. Yu!
